The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and the National Association of Science Writers, a 501(c)6 nonprofit, welcome support from hosts and sponsors whose values align with our missions. ScienceWriters’ sponsorship guidelines require the editorial independence of core conference programming, including all NASW-organized sessions and CASW’s New Horizons in Science program. Sponsors have no control over core conference programming.
Sponsorship income helps offset conference costs, provide travel grants for journalists in need, and cover expenses such as planning, space rental, catering, technology, and transportation. If sponsorship funds remain after all conference expenses are settled, they will be divided among the conference partners and used for ongoing activities in support of science writing and science journalism.
All sponsored activities will be clearly labeled as such onsite and in the online program.
Sponsor representatives can contact attendees via the conference app and in person. Organizers do not share attendee info or registration lists.
CASW or NASW will manage registration for all activities, including hosted and ancillary activities, tours and field trips. Hosts should not expect access to participant lists, except when attendees voluntarily provide names for security clearance or another reason.
All remarks made to attendees should be considered “on the record.” Photography, recording, and real-time reporting, including social media posting, shall be allowed at all times.
Any activities listed in the conference program must be open and accessible to all attendees, including persons with disabilities. Capacity limits may be set. Dietary restrictions will be provided and alternative meals must be provided.
